The importance of Software Quality Assurance (SQA) has been known from the invention of software engineering; however the practical implementation of it has been observed growing due to experienced software crisis. Software Quality Assurance is generally oriented to ââ?¬Å?preventionââ?¬Â. It involves the complete software development process. Software Testing is generally oriented to the ââ?¬Å?detectionââ?¬Â. Testing involves the operation of system or application under the controlled condition and evaluating the results.\r\nIn this paper we study the role of the software testing in the SQA process also provide the comparison between manual and automated testing approaches. This study is based on the experiences shared by the software testing people (QA) who are working in different software organization.\r\nSoftware testing provides software safety by focusing on the identification and assessment of potential hazards that may impact software negatively and cause an entire system to fail. Customer satisfaction is the ultimatum for any business to succeed. This emphasizes that the product should be of high quality & should not report any defects at the customer-site. High product quality cannot be achieved only with excellent programmers who would ensure bug free programs or strict coding standards. However, good the development / the developed software may be, it is bound to contain some errors so it is necessary to check the code test whether the manual testing is effective or automation is main aim of the research
